MCPSA Hosting Two Year Common Core Workshop Series

MCPSA is proud to present the Common Core Workshop Series.  The move to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) is significant for all schools.  The academic shifts presented in the CCSS presents many challenges and in some cases will require significant changes in both curriculum and classroom practice.

Please join MCPSA and consultant Karren Colbert of Write Brained Learning, for these informative, interactive, and action-oriented workshops familiarizing each school with the CCSS and opportunity to re-design a curriculum that supports the CCSS.

All workshops will be held from 9:00am – 4:00pm.

Event Registration for Common Core Workshop Series - Kansas City -

In addition to this series, MCPSA is offering an intensive 1-week curriculum writing sessions guided by Karren Colbert.  Each camp is limited to five schools and will be offered one week in the summer of 2013 and 2014 in both Kansas City and St. Louis.

Curriculum Camp Costs
MCPSA Members – $2,000.00 per school
MCPSA Non- Members – $3,000.00 per school

* Karren Colbert:  Prior to starting Write Brained Learning, Karren spent time as a fourth grade teacher, reading teacher, and an instructional coach in the Independence School District.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Curriculum and Instruction degree, also from the University of Missouri. In 2005, Karren was recognized as the University of Missouri Alumni Association’s Outstanding Young Professional. In addition to her work with Write Brained Learning, she works as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Missouri.
